Message from Alderman Michele Smith, September 11, 2013
The proposal to require energy benchmarking in large commercial and residential buildings passed City Council today after a 32-17 vote, with most of the lakefront aldermen, including me, voting no. Please know that we will continue to work with our high-rise residents to attempt to lessen the burden of this ordinance, including introducing an amendment today to exclude residential buildings. As you know, the ordinance does not apply to any residential building until 2015.
The next regular Board Meeting, originally scheduled for September 18, will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 7:00 pm in the Board Meeting Room, West Tower sub-basement.
