The Office of the State Fire Marshal has chosen a date for the OSFM’s public hearing on the update of the State Fire Code, which includes requiring pre-1975 high rises to install fire sprinkler systems. 345 Fullerton was built in 1972–73 and is not presently sprinklered. Retrofitting is estimated to cost in the tens of millions of dollars.
The hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 6, at 9:00 am at the Office of the State Fire Marshal headquarters, 1035 Stevenson Drive, Springfield, IL.
Proponents and opponents are invited to testify and speak on their positions.
